Hair Colour & Toner, Nano Treatment after Care Guide

Looking after your hair after colouring and nanoplasty is just as important as the treatment itself. The right care will help lock in your colour, maintain that silky-smooth texture, and keep your hair healthy and shiny for months. Below, we’ve put together our expert tips on how to protect and prolong the results of your colour and nano-treated hair, so you can enjoy beautiful, salon-perfect strands every day.

Why Hair Colour and Toner Fade

No matter how professional the colour, fading is natural. Here are the most common reasons why:

  • Hair Porosity: Damaged or porous hair doesn’t hold colour as well, meaning it fades faster.

  • Water Exposure: Every time you wash your hair, some colour washes away—especially in hot water.

  • Sunlight: UV rays break down colour molecules and bleach the hair.

  • Heat Styling: Straighteners, curling irons, and even hairdryers can fade colour faster.

  • Product Choice: Harsh shampoos, especially those with sulphates, strip colour from hair.

  • Chlorine & Salt Water: Swimming can dramatically affect colour, especially toners and pastels.

  • Frequency of Washing: Washing too often accelerates colour loss.

How to Make Your Colour or Toner Last Longer

To protect your investment and keep your hair looking salon-fresh:

  1. Use Sulphate-Free, Colour-Safe Shampoo & Conditioner
These are gentler on coloured hair and help maintain tone and vibrancy.

  2. Wash Less Frequently
Try to wash your hair 2–3 times per week. Use dry shampoo in between if needed.

  3. Cool Water Rinse
Rinse with cool or lukewarm water to help seal the hair cuticle and lock in colour.

  4. Use Heat Protection
Always use a heat protectant spray before blow drying or styling with heat.

  5. Avoid Prolonged Sun Exposure
Wear a hat or use UV-protection sprays when out in strong sun.

  6. Tone at Home (If Recommended)
For certain colours like blondes or silvers, a professional purple or blue shampoo can help maintain tone between appointments.

  7. Get Regular Refreshes
Book in for toner or gloss refreshes every few weeks to keep your colour looking its best.

A Few Quick Reminders

  • Toners are semi-permanent: They are designed to enhance or neutralize tones and usually last around 2 to 4 weeks, depending on how you care for them.

  • Fashion colours (e.g. pink, blue, silver): These fade faster and need more frequent maintenance.

  • Healthy hair holds colour better: Ask us about deep conditioning or bond-building treatments to prep or repair your hair before colouring.

What is Nanoplasty?

Nanoplasty is an advanced, formaldehyde-free hair smoothing and restoration treatment that combines nanotechnology with natural amino acids, collagen, and other nourishing ingredients. Unlike traditional keratin treatments, nanoplasty works on a molecular level to repair the hair from the inside out, smoothing the cuticle while improving overall strength, shine, and manageability.

It is suitable for most hair types, including chemically treated or damaged hair, and offers long-lasting results (typically 3–6 months) without harsh chemicals or strong odours.

Benefits include:

  • Straighter, smoother hair without frizz

  • Deep hydration and repair

  • Increased shine and softness

  • Long-lasting results with proper care

  • Compatible with coloured or bleached hair

  • Nano is not a straightening treatment, it makes hair smoother and easier to manage. For best results, blow-dry following the cuticle direction, and lightly flat iron to enhance shine and silky texture.

Aftercare Tips for Nanoplasty

Proper aftercare is essential to maintain smoothness, shine, and longevity of your nanoplasty results.

For the first 72 hours:

  • Avoid washing or wetting your hair.

  • Avoid tying your hair tightly or using clips to prevent kinks.

  • Keep your hair straight; if bends occur, gently pass over with a flat iron.

Ongoing care:

  • Use sulfate- and sodium chloride–free shampoos and conditioners to prevent stripping the treatment.

  • Limit use of high-heat tools; if styling, use a heat protectant.

  • Deep condition your hair weekly to maintain moisture.

  • Avoid frequent swimming in chlorinated or salt water; if you do swim, use a protective leave-in and rinse hair immediately afterwards.

  • Schedule a touch-up when the effects begin to fade (usually around 3–6 months).
